It depends on your goals. Online training has high value because you’re given a whole workout program to follow week by week.
In person training is effective if you want to learn proper form, and want to be pushed by your coach. In order for it to be “effective”, meeting at least 2 times per week every week is essential to help you get where you want to be (if you don’t want to do it online).
